Rev. David Goodpasture

Thalia United Methodist Church welcomes Rev. David Goodpasture as our new pastor. Pastor David and his wife, Rev. Jannette Clavez, are one of six clergy couples serving in the Norfolk District. They and their children are moving into Thalia's parsonage as Pastor David assumes his new duties here July 1. Jannette will be commuting to Norfolk to serve as pastor at Colonial Avenue UMC.

Pastor David begins his 25th year of pastoral ministry this summer. He and his family come to us from Christiansburg, Virginia where he has served the past six years as pastor of St. Paul UMC. Previous to that, he served Virginia pastorates in Chantilly, Kilmarnock, Winchester, and the Fredericksburg area. He is a 1982 graduate of The University of Virginia and holds Masters and Doctoral degrees from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

David and Jannette have two teen-age daughters. Grace, age 18, is a recent graduate of Christiansburg High School and will attend Virginia Conference-related Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia this fall. Louise, 15, will be enrolling as a sophomore at Princess Anne High School this year. David, Jannette, Grace and Louise are excited about coming to Virginia Beach and being a part of the Thalia family. By the grace of God, we all look forward to a fruitful ministry together beginning July 1!
