Stewardship

2009 Stewardship Study

Being a good steward means using all your available resources to the glory of God with guidance from the Holy Spirit. Given this definition, becoming a good steward seems like a daunting task that may not be achievable. However, the teachings of John Wesley and the traditions of the United Methodist Church are designed to lead us toward sanctification, and if we follow those lessons and put meaning to those rituals, we will become good stewards.

In particular we must remember the promises we made when we joined the Church, and the promises we affirm each time we welcome a new member into the Church. As members of the United Methodist Church, we have each pledged to support the Church through our Prayers, our Presence, our Gifts and our Service.

This Stewardship Study spent each Sunday in June exploring each of these pledges one at a time. By the end of June, we had an understanding of how keeping our promises to the Church would make us good stewards in every aspect of our daily lives. These video moments incorporate members of Thalia United Methodist Church of all ages who in their own words express the importance of Prayers, Presence, Gifts and Service.
