As many across our nation and around the world do their best to mitigate the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are taking steps at Thalia UMC to keep everyone as healthy as possible. We are monitoring guidelines from the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church to make plans for returning to in-person worship in stage three. The link to the conference guidelines are here https://vaumc.org/return/
The most important things I want to urge everyone to do at this time are:
- pray for peace and healing
- practice good personal hygiene
- abstain from personal contact (no handshaking or hugging for now)
- stay home if you are ill or concerned.
The Healthy Church Team is monitoring the evolution of the Conference guidelines as we implement strategies to keep everyone safe and healthy.
We are looking ahead to plan for future adjustments as needed, including how we will return to in-person worship when that time comes. We will keep you informed as those decisions are made.
In the meantime, we are still streaming worship on Facebook and YouTube every Sunday morning!
Again, please take this time to practice excellent personal hygiene and good judgment as an act of service to one another. This is an opportunity for our family of faith to embody the love of Christ by doing everything we can to keep each other as healthy as possible. Thank you for your patience and compassion during this time. Please feel free to call us at 757-340-5015 or email me through our website at thaliaumc.org if you have questions or concerns. You can find a letter from Bishop Lewis regarding COVID-19 on our website or at the Conference Office page.
Grace and Peace,
Rev. Joe Varner
