Bible Reading Plan
Not AshamedThis series is about claiming the faith we’ve been given with boldness and enthusiasm. But it is also about honoring those from whom we learned about Christ. So, there can be space for both: making new commitments to following or renewing commitments long standing. Jesus dominated the four Gospel accounts, but the Holy Spirit dominates the book of Acts. Luke’s second book (Acts) begins with Jesus’ reminder of his pre-Resurrection promise to send his followers the Holy Spirit. In Acts, Jesus again reminds his followers that the promised Holy Spirit is coming: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). In light of the above passage, it is not surprising that some say the book of Acts could be called, “The Acts of the Holy Spirit.”
