The light kits are almost here! The last pieces of the puzzle for the sanctuary audio and visual upgrade that we have been waiting for are on the way. We hope that work will begin the week of May 10. This upgrade will involve completely replacing the electrical system in the sanctuary, updating the lighting with retro-fit fixtures, replacing all three projectors, and installing an entirely new sound system with a digital sound board.
You may be wondering how we can afford a project at a time like this. Over the last three years, we saved income from Thalia Day School in a capital improvement fund. Additionally, we received special second-mile gifts during the same period that enabled us to cover the costs of this extensive project. Furthermore, contracts were signed at the end of 2019 with substantial down-payments submitted. Therefore, we believe we have sufficient funds allocated towards capital improvements that enable us to complete this long-awaited project and enhance the worship experience for everyone as we look ahead to resuming in-person worship.
Thank you for your patience and generosity as we remain steadfast in providing meaningful worship that feeds the soul and blesses the Lord!
Governor Northam made reference to “Phase 1” in his briefing on May 4. Bishop Lewis has not announced a date for us to be allowed to return to in-person worship. We will keep you posted as those plans develop.
